See what our customers are saying:

I purchased three Roll 4 Life rashguards from JC Projects out of Jersey City.  All three were Long Sleeve sizes XL, XXL, and M10 (Kids that I had JC modify to short sleeve).  The one I use is the XXL and my son uses the M10 and by far these are the best quality, priced, and best looking of all five different brands of rashguards I own.

I have rolled in mine more than a half dozen times now, wearing it under my Gi and during NoGi training and the fit is a perfect snug that doesn't roll up like some of my other more expensive ones and with the quality of stitch and thread used in the rashguard there is never a concern of tear.  When I ordered my son’s rashguard, JC Projects had no issues in the request for the modification to make it a short sleeve.  What was more impressive was when we receive his rashguard and it was longer than a typical short sleeve, but shorter than a ¾ sleeve which makes the sleeve stay long on the arm while rolling and doesn't bunch up like some of his other short sleeve rashguards.

Like all rashguards, these are washed in cold and hung dry.  Both rashguards have been washed about eight times now and there has been no fading or running of color, and none of the stitching has come undone.  The design with the “Roll 4 Life” logo on the front, tattoo sleeves, and Dragon with quote on the back it truly BadAss!

What is most special about the rashguard is that JC Projects did the rashguard to not only promote BJJ, but 100% of their profits go to two charities, JC Projects Scholarship Fund (60%) and Autism Speaks (40%) and I am very proud to be able to support both of these charities.  So the bottom-line is this, for a whopping $30 you get an awesome rashguard of great quality with a truly wicked look, the kicker is that you get to help two great charities at the same time. This is the by far the best rashguard you will own!

Thanks for your time,

Chris B.

What is Roll4Life?

Roll4Life started out from our belief that we want to do good by doing good for others.  At its core, it is our philanthropic arm for JC Projects.  We have worked hard with a very talented overseas artist.  I can confidently say that the designs on this product and potentially future products are second to none.  We believe in being more than just the typical BJJ brand or lifestyle company. Roll4Life symbolizes several things to us.

As students of the grappling arts (Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu [aka BJJ]/No-Gi BJJ, Wrestling, Sambo, and to a lesser degree MMA) we are fully committed to participating in the sport until our body tells us we can no longer do so. Thankfully, grappling is a martial arts that is not only for the young, big, and athletic but also for the older, slower and smaller competitor.  For example, the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Helio Gracie practiced BJJ until shortly before his passing at the age of 95 years young.  When BJJ players compete we often use the term "Roll" or "Randori."    "Randori is a term used in Japanese martial arts to describe free-style practice. The term literally means 'chaos taking' or 'grasping freedom,' implying a freedom from the structured practice of kata (source Wikipedia)."

Secondly, we want to emphasize Roll4Life as grappling practitioners making a difference in people's lives. When we say lives, we mean making a fundamental change in people's lives through improved physical health and increasing mental toughness by 1) learning the moves 2) putting your body in harm’s way potentially each time you train and 3) being comfortable in stressful situations and being confident that you can overcome the physical and mental obstacles that life throws at us.

This leads us to what do we hope to accomplish with Roll4Life.  In a utopian scenario, we would be able to create a beautiful piece of art that is both practical and affordable.  Fundamentally, there is nothing special about the clothing that we are selling.  However, we feel that we have created a product that is both artistic and practical for grappling competitors or any competitive sports athlete.

What do we plan to do with the proceeds generated from the sales?  We cannot say if we will be successful, but it is our hopes that we can sell enough of these works of art to make a difference in people's lives.  Living in Jersey City which is just outside of New York City we have seen many underprivileged children.  We are firmly committed to building our Jersey City community and part of that is getting involved with children who may not be able to financially afford to train in the martial arts.   JC Projects will be sponsoring scholarships to these children based on household income, an essay application by parents/children describing why they deserve a scholarship to train and most importantly a commitment to train a minimum amount of times per week.  We want to invest in young people who are bright, motivated, and loyal people who could not otherwise afford to pay for specialized martial arts training.   While the gym fees will be waived, these individuals will need uniforms, tournament entry fees, etc. which is where the philanthropy comes into play.  Any additional funding raised, would be donated to various children's charities like Autism Speaks.

Roll4Life's motto is "Improving Lives One Roll At A Time."

Thank you for reading this very long explanation, but we feel it is important that our cause is greater than selling clothing.  We want to be a brand ambassador for Grapplers and the Mixed Martial Arts community in general.  We feel that not enough has been done to give back to the community that we live, work, and play in.

Furthermore, we want to promote a positive image for Grappling and MMA athletes around the world.  We think too often people outside the Martial Arts community think that MMA/Grapplers are a bunch of jocks or meat heads.  We hope to change this misunderstanding of the sport.

If this idea resonates and speaks to you, please help support our cause by buying one or a few of our limited production items.  Proceeds will go to a good cause on behalf martial arts practitioners around the world.

What does the Logo Represent?

When we started Roll4Life we wanted it to be meaningful and impactful.  Similarly we have put a lot of thought and meaning in our logo, besides being a beautiful design.  We have already discussed the meaning behind  the phrase “Roll4Life” on our website roll4life.org.   With respect to the logo, the outer circle symbolizes the circle of life both with respect to the individual and society.  The octagon, in addition to representing the UFC cage, also is known in Chinese as the Bagua.  This is an important tool for feng shui to map a room or location and see how the different sections correspond to different aspects in one's life.  See chart below from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagua)

The inner circle represents mother earth.  The words “Roll” and “Life” are literally rolling on top of and around earth.  The color scheme represents our patriotic  colors.  The “4” has several meanings.  In addition to be a clever way of stating “for”, it also represents “death” when pronounced the Cantonese Chinese dialect.  Death is in the middle of Earth as it is the one unifying thing in life unfortunately.  The “4” also represents the four pillars of martial arts excellence: Purpose, Passion, Patience, Perseverance.  Finally, "4" represents the "physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual" aspects of the human body.  It is these "4" aspects that we try to improve on at JC Projects.  The large triangle represents our three ideals as martial arts students:  Respect, Honor, and Persistence.  We strive for these ideals and try to balance our lives to this every day. The smaller triangle which is offset represents imperfect reality and is therefore not in perfect harmony to the Utopian triangle.  Every day we Roll or go to battle with the daily struggles of Life, thus the juxtaposition of the two words.

What does the Artwork symbolize?

The Dragon is one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals and in this drawing represents one of life's many obstacles which our hero must rise up and overcome.  The poem

Do not go gentle Into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

is by American Poet Dylan Thomas and is meant to encourage individuals to never give up.  The Chinese saying is from philosopher Mencius who was from the same school of thought as Confucius.  It translates as:

"The wise one has no doubts, the brave one has no fear, the benevolent one has no enemy."

Why is your rashguard so affordable?

We do these designs for the love of the martial arts and to further promote awareness and the ideals of martial arts to more people.  We do not take any profits from this venture.  All proceeds after expenses go to children's charities and sponsoring disadvantaged youth in martial arts.

Be a "G", Donate a Gi!

We are also taking donations for "lightly used" children and adult gis.  If your kids have out grown their gi, don't throw them out.  Take a picture of the front and back of the gi and send an email to us with the gi sizing.  Include your name, return address, and rashguard size.   If we approve the gi, send it to our mailing address at 255 Warren Street Apt 2102, Jersey City, NJ 07302, and we'll send you a rashguard for free in return.
